By now you’ve probably heard of South African sensation Tyla – who started her own marketing campaign posting songs and covers online during COVID and now enjoys not only insane internet success, (water challenge anyone?!) but a record deal with Epic, tour dates with Chris Brown and an entry on the Billboard charts (the first solo song by a South African on the charts since Hugh Masekela!) that solidify her status as not only one to watch, but one who has arrived! Not bad for a relatively new (one year young) performer!! Using TikTok videos and dance challenges, Tyla’s ‘cheeky’ use of social media to engage audiences has certainly paid off! Being gorgeous doesn’t hurt either!
