Making Theatre Sacred Territory
For more than two decades, playwright, director and cultural worker Goldie E. Patrick has created theatre illuminating Black life and imagination while pushing the boundaries of form and storytelling.
A graduate of Howard University and Columbia University, Patrick centers the multilayered experiences of Black women and girls, drawing upon history, folklore, ritual and hip-hop. Her commitment extends beyond the stage as founder and former Producing Artistic Director of F.R.E.S.H.H. Inc Theatre Company, where she developed programming and curricula for emerging artists.
On September 26 at 651 ARTS in Brooklyn, Can You Read the Stars? invites audiences inside Patrick’s creative process as she transforms her own family history into a new play set in 1946 Alabama. Learn more about the performance and ticket options here.
