Shattering Stigma Through Undeniable Artistry
Named a 2024 USA Today Woman of the Year, Lachi is a charting and award-winning recording artist, performer, globally touring keynote speaker, GRAMMYs Board Governor, PBS series host and author. Born legally blind, Lachi uses her platform in music, storytelling and fashion to amplify Disability Culture, identity, and pride to the mainstream narrative.
Recognized as a “dedicated foot soldier for disability pride” by Forbes Magazine, Lachi has held talks and shows at the White House, BBC, the UN, numerous organizations, universities and NGOs worldwide, and has been honored by ADCOLOR, Inc, AdAge, and featured in TIME, Billboard, Good Morning America and the New York Times for her upbeat and unapologetic brand of disability pride.
Through her upcoming book I Identify As Blind: A Brazen Celebration of Disability Culture, Identity and Power (due January 2026), Lachi challenges mainstream views on disability from her perspective as an entertainer and rewrites the narrative to celebrate the disability and neurodivergence coursing through pop culture. CEO of the Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities organization (RAMPD), Lachi believes the book will give people with disabilities “that silent majority permission to join the party and redefine the narrative.” A worthy goal indeed!
